Job summary

The City of Cedar Hill is seeking a dedicated parks maintenance worker to preserve park lands by tending parks, medians, and athletic fields. Responsibilities include operating equipment, removing debris, and supporting special events with some leadership duties.

Hours are typically Monday through Friday, with possible after-hours as needed. Pay includes $17.85/hour, education pay up to $1,200/year, and bilingual pay of $600/year.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provide premier customer service to internal and external customers.
• Maintain grounds by removing trash and debris from parks, medians, and Right of Ways.
• Operate equipment for landscaping, including mowers and back hoes, and maintain athletic fields.
• Assist with coordinating and preparing for special events and seasonal decorations.
• Regular attendance required.

Job description

The purpose of this position is to preserve park lands by maintaining parks, medians and athletic fields. This is accomplished by operating necessary equipment and removing trash and debris. Other duties may include performing preventative maintenance on and repairing equipment, assisting in coordination and preparation of special and seasonal events, some leadership responsibilities and interfacing with other City employees and citizens. This position does may provide direction to other employees.

This position will generally work Monday - Friday, based on departmental needs, including after-hours and special events, as needed.

Salary

• Pay rate: $17.85/hour
• Education pay available, up to $1,200/year!
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) pay, $600/year!

• Provides premier customer service to internal and external customers by responding to requests in a timely and professional manner. Maintains cleanliness of grounds by removing trash and debris from parks, medians, and Right of Ways.
• Performs landscaping activities by operating various pieces of equipment, including mowers, back hoes and other landscaping tools, planting and trimming shrubs, trees and flowers and maintaining athletic fields.
• Maintains equipment by performing preventative maintenance on park and lawn equipment on a regular basis, cleaning equipment and making repairs.
• Assists with special events by coordinating tasks and assisting with seasonal decorations.
• Regular attendance required.

• Work requires the ability to read and understand written instructions, to understand simple processes and the routine operation of machines.
• One year of related experience preferred.
• Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays may be required. Mandatory overtime may be required.
• Must pass pre-employment drug screen and/or background check.
• Valid TX Driver's License.
