Job summary

St. Joseph County Parks & Recreation Department is seeking a Maintenance Technician to maintain park facilities, grounds, trails, and buildings at Bendix Woods, Ferrettie/Baugo Creek, Spicer Lake, and St. Patrick's Parks.

The role includes snow removal, cleaning, minor repairs, and operating a range of vehicles and tools. The position requires a high school diploma or GED, OSHA know-how, and the ability to work independently and in teams, with occasional extended hours and travel between park

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Working knowledge of department policies and OSHA safety policies.
• Experience with grounds and facility maintenance is expected.
• Knowledge of pesticides/herbicides safety and label directions.
• Ability to operate trucks and heavy equipment safely.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Responsibilities

• Maintain park buildings, grounds, trails, playgrounds, and related facilities.
• Assist in safety during winter conditions including snow removal and salting.
• Clean and service restrooms; restock supplies.
• Maintain shelters, rental buildings, and equipment; perform minor repairs.
• Operate trucks, heavy equipment, and tools; perform routine inspections.
