The City of Decatur is seeking a Parks Maintenance Worker to perform upkeep on parks, facilities and equipment outdoors. Responsibilities include field preparation, restocking and cleaning, irrigation work, minor repairs, and assisting other city divisions.
The role requires physical stamina, ability to read manuals and logs, basic math, good teamwork, safety awareness and dependable attendance. Valid Texas driver’s license preferred.
Days - Wednesday - Sunday
Hours 7:00am - 3:00 pm
General Purpose: Provides overall maintenance to all city properties, parks, cemeteries, facilities and structures, and other duties as assigned. Performs a wide variety of semi-skilled tasks involving the maintenance and repair of City properties, facilities, and equipment.
Gloves, goggles, masks, ear protection, steel toe boots, safety vests, and back brace.
While performing the medium overall strength demands of this job, the employee is constantly required to stand, walk, kneel, crouch, bend, twist as well as talk or listen. The employee is frequently required to sit for long periods, as well as lift, carry, push, pull, reach with hands and arms, and use foot controls.
The employee must routinely lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
The primary work location is outdoors, with a seasonal loud noise level. This position is exposed frequently to dirt, dust, fumes, odors, extreme temperatures, wetness/humidity, noise/vibrations, darkness or poor lighting. Other exposures include mechanical, chemical and electrical hazards in addition to communicable diseases. This position is periodically exposed to persons who represent a danger to health and life. The employee must have the ability to work well with others and have a good/pleasant attitude.
