Job summary

City of Mesquite seeks a Park Maintenance Worker to manage litter control in park grounds, operate trucks, and support park inspections. Duties include debris removal after storms, recording work time, and assisting in maintenance tasks under supervisor guidance.

Work schedule is Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with overtime and weekends as needed. A valid driver’s license is required to perform the role.

Qualifications

• No formal education required beyond reading/writing ability.
• No prior park maintenance experience required.
• Must be able to read and write basic tasks and safety notes.

Responsibilities

• Provide litter control for park grounds, which includes emptying 35-gallon trash cans.
• Drive to and from destinations as assigned by Supervisor.
• Operate a variety of trucks and vehicles in the performance of work.
• Assist in park inspections to ensure public safety and facility upkeep; note hazards or injuries; perform maintenance as needed.
• Participate in debris removal following flooding and inclement weather.
• Perform special projects as assigned.
• Maintain work, time and material records.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

Salary: $15.75/hr. minimum - $19.68/hr. max (Depending on qualifications)

To perform maintenance and litter control for park grounds; and to perform specialized projects as assigned.

SUPERVISION

General supervision is provided by a District Park Supervisor.

1. All behaviors comply with the Code of Conduct and Rules of Behavior as outlined in Chapter 8 of the General Government Policies and Procedures Manual.
2. Provide litter control for park grounds, which includes emptying 35-gallon trash cans.
3. Drive to and from destinations as assigned by Supervisor.
4. Operate a variety of trucks and vehicles in the performance of work.
5. Assist in park inspections to ensure the safety of the public and park facilities; note possible safety hazards or causes of injury; perform general maintenance and repair to park facilities as required.
6. Participate in debris removal following flooding and other forms of inclement weather.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

EDUCATION

Formal or informal education or training which ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance.
