Job summary

Bend Park and Recreation District is seeking a Park Technician to join our team and lead projects across irrigation, horticulture and turf management in parks, fields, and trails.

You will design, install, inspect and maintain irrigation systems, train staff and volunteers, and ensure safety on site. Applicants should demonstrate strong knowledge of horticulture, irrigation, and equipment operation, with a valid Oregon license where required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; prefer two years of trade or technical school in landscape or irrigation; AND
• Four (4) years of experience in irrigation technology, landscape horticulture design, field layout, forest management, or arboriculture; OR
• Any satisfactory combination of education, experience and training.

Responsibilities

• Lead projects and perform a wide variety of technical duties in irrigation, horticulture and turf grass management on parks, sports fields, outside facilities and trails.
• Designs and develops specifications for irrigation and drainage systems; installs, troubleshoots, inspects, audits and repairs systems.
• Maintains detailed blueprints, diagrams, records and as-built drawings for district irrigation systems.
• Operates and transports equipment for installation and maintenance of irrigation systems.
• Coordinates with contractors and provides site-specific details to ensure safe working environment.
