Job summary

The City of Lakeland is seeking a semi-skilled Grounds Maintenance Worker to maintain City-owned properties, parks, and athletic fields. The role involves heavy manual labor, operating hand and power tools, and performing routine groundskeeping duties under supervision.

You will inspect and maintain playgrounds, fences, and park equipment, keep maintenance records, and support city events. A valid driver's license and a Florida BMP certification within one year are required.

Qualifications

• Eight-grade education or equivalent.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors and the public.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain park restrooms.
• Maintain daily maintenance records.
• Remove trash from City parks.
• Install park amenities throughout the City.
• Mow grass and maintain grounds using lawn equipment.
• Operate light trucks and other municipal equipment.
• Perform basic carpentry, painting, electrical, plumbing, or mechanical repairs under supervision.
