Job summary

The City of Cape Girardeau is seeking a dedicated Parks Maintenance Worker to perform lawn care, turf maintenance, and general upkeep of city parks and facilities. The role includes equipment maintenance, snow removal, and assisting with construction projects as needed.

Responsibilities include mowing, trimming, waste removal, restroom and shelter cleaning, and weekend rotation coverage. A valid driver's license is required, with excellent safety practices and the ability to work independently.

Qualifications

• Experience in grounds maintenance.
• Valid Driver's license.

• Familiarity with safety guidelines.
• Ability to interpret verbal and written instructions.

Responsibilities

• Mow, trim, and maintain turf and landscaped areas.
• Maintain and repair facilities and equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance on parks and facilities.
• Oversee part-time staff when needed.
• Perform landscaping and snow removal; remove dead or hazardous trees.
• Remove trash and clean restrooms and shelters.
• Work weekends/holidays as needed and participate in rotation.
• Assist senior staff on construction projects.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
