Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

This contract position is responsible for planning and performing the maintenance of Bully Creek Park insuring the safe and sanitary conditions of the grounds and facilities.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

This position will work under the general supervision of the Road Supervisor. The employee is responsible for identifying problems and accomplishing work according to previously agreed upon goals.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED

This position supervises the Seasonal Park Assistant and oversees work done by County work crews and civil groups.

(The following description of duties may not be all inclusive and other duties may be assigned at the discretion of management).
  • Maintains the Bully Park grounds which includes but is not limited to watering, mowing and weed control to insure the overall appearance of the park; operate and maintain the sprinkler system; collects park garbage.
  • Maintains the working order and sanitary conditions of the Bully Creek bathroom facilities.
  • Responsible for scheduling vendors and contractors for specialized repairs and maintenance.
  • Ensures park security and that visitors and campers are adhering to park rules; contact law enforcement if situation requires it.
  • Arranges Bully Creek Park camper reservations; collects and remits camping fees to the County Treasurer with applicable paperwork.
  • Maintain records of repairs and maintenance activities, parts used, supplies needed and related inventory items; order supplies to assure uninterrupted performance of responsibilities.
  • Responsible for keeping accurate and up to date inventory of County purchased property and equipment.
  • Provide information and assistance to the public in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Must maintain County provided housing in good working order; consult and gain approval from County Court/Administrative Office for work/improvements done on the home.
  • Schedule and oversee park work/projects of volunteer organizations and County work crews.
  • May occasionally assist with the maintenance of Cow Hollow Park.
  • Regular physical attendance at the employer’s facility is required.
Minimum of 2 years experience in grounds keeping and minor equipment repair or a combination of experience and training that gives the applicant the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the required duties.Must have a valid driver's license with a good driving record.Background checks will be completed.
Thorough knowledge of: methods, tools and materials used in park grounds keeping and facility maintenance; knowledge of plumbing installation and repair; minor equipment repair; knowledge of safety and accident prevention practices; knowledge of recording keeping.
Skill in: the use of tools and power equipment; operation of a motor vehicle; skill in the application of supervision and communication principles.
Ability to: courteously meet and deal effectively with the public; ability to maintain accurate records; ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; ability to work independently without direct supervision; ability to adjust to priority changes and work well under pressure.


The Grounds Keeper is required to live on site in the County provided housing located at Bully Creek Park.
