Job summary

The North Carolina Zoo is seeking a Maintenance/Construction Supervisor I to oversee park facility maintenance, safety, and minor renovations. The role involves reading blueprints, evaluating plans, and coordinating with contractors while supervising staff and volunteers.

It requires strong knowledge of multiple trades and the ability to manage cost estimates for repairs and upgrades. Typical hours are Monday through Friday with possible evenings and weekends; candidates must be prepared for

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; three years of progressive facility maintenance or construction experience including journey level in three trades.
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience with building codes and regulations for repair, maintenance, and construction.

Responsibilities

• Develops and manages outside bid packages and reviews plan sheets from designers and contractors.
• Supervises and evaluates work of staff, temporary workers, and volunteers on special projects.
• Reads blueprints/structural specs and prepares basic cost estimates for repairs and renovations.
• Advises management on technical aspects of maintaining or renovating equipment and facilities.
