Job summary

Baxter State Park is looking for a Conservation Aide to assist with maintenance and field tasks in preserving natural resources. You will perform data collection, specimen handling, and equipment repairs under supervision, helping ensure accurate records and safe field operations.

The role involves hands-on outdoor work, operating small boats and motorized gear, and supporting wildlife and water quality projects during a limited period from Oct 2026 to Jan 2027.

Qualifications

• Knowledge and/or experience in conservation work and/or a high school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Collects data for conservation programs to assist technical staff.
• Paints buildings and repairs equipment to maintain facilities.
• Bails and samples groundwater at spill sites to support investigations.
• Nets and tags species to aid in wildlife studies.
• Samples residential water taps for contamination analysis.
• Observes field conditions and notes wells, streams, ponds, and fuel facilities.
• Compiles data into statistical summaries.
• Harvests and replants species to replenish wildlife.
• Operates motorized equipment to support field activities.
• Locates and surveys species for harvesting or replenishment.
