Job summary

The Accountant at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church assists the Pastor, COO, department heads, and Finance Council by interpreting financial results and overseeing parish finances, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and records in line with Diocesan controls and applicable laws.

Reporting to the COO, the role requires independent judgment within established procedures, ensuring timely, accurate financial reports and stewardship of the parish’s gifts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
• Minimum three years wage earning experience; five years as parish bookkeeper may substitute.
• Proficient in English; Catholic faith requirement.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate financial records for all transactions.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-to-date reports for leadership (Pastor/COO/Finance Council).
• Process accounts payable/receivable and payroll.
• Ensure compliance with Diocese and federal/state laws.
• Assist with annual budget and QuickBooks data entry.
• Post parishioner contributions to the database; generate tax forms.
