Job summary

San Rafael Parish in San Diego seeks a Communications Coordinator to advance the parish’s mission by creating and promoting engaging communications that inform, inspire, and connect the parish community. This role covers print and digital content for liturgies, faith formation, news, ministries, and events.

The position is part-time (12–16 hours/week) with a focus on timely, accurate, mission-centered messaging and collaboration with staff and parish leaders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications or related field.
  • Diocesan certification standards compliance or exceed.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office 365, Canva, CMS, and social media platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Work under direction of Parish Life Coordinator; collaborate with staff and ministry leaders to gather, organize, edit, and publish accurate information through parish communication channels.
  • Develop and maintain a communications calendar and assist in planning promotional strategies for parish initiatives and events.
  • Create engaging graphics, photography, video, and other digital content using current tools (parish bulletin, newsletters, website, apps, social media).
  • Maintain consistent messaging and branding across all platforms; manage multiple projects and deadlines; exercise editorial judgment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
