Job summary

Hamilton County Schools is seeking a coordinator to lead East Hamilton High School's parent volunteer program. You will organize, develop, and implement volunteer opportunities, foster strong parent and community involvement, and document hours for reporting and recognition.

The role requires coordinating with teachers, administrators, and parents to support school activities, ensuring confidentiality, and aligning with district policies and goals for student success.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; experience coordinating activities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication with students, educators, parents, and community.
  • Ability to engage parents and community in volunteer projects and activities.
  • Create systems to maintain information about volunteer activities.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the planning, development, and implementation of parent volunteer programs.
  • Develop long and short-term plans, goals, and objectives for the volunteer program.
  • Coordinate daily activities and monitor progress of volunteer projects.
  • Document volunteer hours and publish ongoing volunteer activities for parents and staff.
  • Communicate with parents, teachers and administration to identify volunteer opportunities.
  • Prepare reports and newsletters as directed by the principal.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to district policies.
  • Work collaboratively with school staff and stakeholders.

The purpose of this job is to coordinate parent volunteer activities.

East Hamilton High School is a diverse 9-12 school located in Ooltewah, Tennessee, just outside Chattanooga. Responsibilities
  • Acts in a professional, respectful, and welcoming manner at all times.
  • Creates a customer-focused climate and provides quality services and support to school and other stakeholders.
  • Complies with applicable district, state, and federal codes, laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies and procedures.
  • Coordinates the planning, developing, and implementing of programs, policies, and procedures for assigned areas to ensure the most effective utilization of resources to support the vision and mission of the school district.
  • Creates a customer-focused climate and provides quality services and support to schools and other stakeholders.
  • Coordinates daily work activities; organizes, prioritizes, and monitors status of work in progress and inspects completed work.
  • Develops and implements long and short term plans, goals, and objectives for assigned area.
  • Follows established procedures for ensuring assigned areas are safe.
  • Communicates through the proper channels to keep supervisor and other appropriate personnel informed of impending problems or events of unusual nature.
  • Coordinates the parent volunteer program to increase parent participation in the overall school program.
  • Develops a system to document volunteer hours.
  • Communicates effectively and consistently with parents, teachers and administration to identify and publish ongoing volunteer activities and opportunities.
  • Prepares reports and newsletters as directed by the principal.
  • Supports school-wide activities and events that involve parents.
  • Communicates through the proper channels to keep supervisor and other appropriate personnel informed of impending problems or events of unusual nature.
  • Follows established procedures for ensuring assigned areas are safe.
  • Works collaboratively with school staff, students, parents, and other stakeholders.
  • Attends work and arrives to work on time.
  • Maintains confidentiality.
  • Adheres to the Teacher Code of Ethics as defined by Tennessee Law.
  • Complies with accounting and financial policies and procedures, as well as other Board policies.
  • Use computers and other technology to enter and access information related to essential job functions.
  • May operate a motor vehicle to conduct various work activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Knowledge/Education/Experience:

Bachelor’s degree preferred. Experience coordinating activities preferred; any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills to deal effectively with students, educators, Board members, parents, and community members.
  • Demonstrates the ability to create opportunities for parents and others to be involved in volunteer projects and activities.
  • Demonstrates the ability to engage parents and community members in volunteer projects and activities.
  • Demonstrates the ability to create systems to maintain information about volunteer activities.

Compensation: Salary is based on a combination of relevant education and experience. Grade C
