Job summary

Child and Family Focus Inc. is seeking a Parent Peer Specialist to support parents/caregivers of youth enrolled in Montgomery County ICC. You will deliver in-home or telehealth coaching, help build Family Service Plans, and connect families with community resources.

Applicants should be a parent/caregiver with lived experience, have PPS training, and a PA license/driving access. The role offers hybrid work, a competitive benefits package, and ongoing supervision.

Qualifications

• Experience as a parent/caregiver of a child in the child serving system.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Have maintained, within the last 3 years, at least 12 months of successful full or part time paid or voluntary work experience.
• Completed training as a Parent Peer Specialist (PPS) from certified training program.
• Valid PA state driver’s licenseand access to reliable transportation

Responsibilities

• Provide Parent Peer Support to assigned parents/caregivers within the ICC in their home or community settings as appropriate.
• Encourage and support the enhancement of resiliency through mentorship and the installment of hope and empowerment.
• Utilize one’s own lived experience to facilitate the completion of the OCY Family Service Plan.
• Ensure all parents identify needs and strengths to establish service plan goals across relevant domains.
• Identify community and natural supports and assist individuals with accessing and participating in such activities or events.
• Assess ongoing progress with plans, guide individuals in making necessary changes to plans and celebrate individual successes.
• Meet clients as needed in the community where they reside or wherever services would be most appropriately delivered.
• Carry a caseload of up to 20 families.
• Document progress in the agency EHR.
• Model and promote skills related to navigating the child serving system.
• Participate in weekly individual and group supervision.
• Actively work to promote strong personal and professional boundaries.
• Attend required trainings to maintain Parent Peer Specialist Certification.
• Perform other related duties, when required or assigned.

Job description

The Parent Peer Support Program will provide support and planning to assist parents/caregivers of young people participating in CFF’s Montgomery County Intensive Care Coordination Program. Services will be delivered by Parent Peer Specialists (PPS) trained by a department approved training to provide PPS. The focus of the services will be to assist the parents and caregivers of youth in the development of a plan that will address needs identified by the parent as they navigate the child serving system. The PPS will provide supportive interventions to eligible parents/caregivers either face-to-face or over the phone/telehealth to provide necessary support to develop skills and community support, and work toward goals on their Family Service Plan. The PPS will fill the need for supportive guidance from a skilled person with lived experience who is objective and neutral, trauma-informed, and person-centered. The FPS will utilize their own lived experience as a caregiver of a child with complex, multi-system needs to support the parents with children enrolled in the ICC program through CFF.

Preferred Qualifications

• Lived experience in Child Welfare.
• Knowledge of community resources in Montgomery County.
• Exhibit competency in personal recovery and use of coping skills.
• Demonstrate the ability to assist parents/caregivers in developing empowerment skills and combating stigma through self-advocacy.
• Knowledge and skill to teach and engage in basic problem solving strategies to support clients in self-directed recovery.
• Knowledge and skill sufficient to use community resources necessary for independent living and ability to teach those skills to others.
• Ability to reflect the culture and understand the challenges of a caregiver of a child in OCY services.
• Hybrid work environment both in a standard office environment, and remotely from home, as well as community settings to include client home, schools, court, doctor’s offices and hospitals.
• Pay rate of $20 perhour
