Job summary

Limestone County Board of Education is seeking a Parent Liaison to increase parental involvement and improve home-school communication. The role focuses on outreach to families, including Hispanic communities, and coordinating programs and services to meet student needs.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Support the school system and its goals.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding school/workplace information.
  • Engage parents through multiple contact methods to boost involvement.
  • Serve as a liaison among teachers, parents, students, staff and the community.
  • Build partnerships with community agencies to support students, parents and teachers.
  • Provide information on school programs, services, and attendance matters; respond to inquiries.
  • Meet with parents to identify family needs and connect them to resources.
  • Promote positive parenting with training opportunities for families.
  • Lead and participate in campus outreach activities and events.
  • Maintain accurate records of activities and participation.
  • Assist in coordinating programs to meet needs of students, parents and teachers.
  • Develop programs to strengthen school-home relationships.
  • Care for school resources and supervise others handling tools/equipment.
  • Serve on school committees and task forces; adhere to policies and regulations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the principal.

Performance Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
  1. Demonstrates support for the school system and its vision, goals and
  2. Maintains appropriate confidentiality regarding school/workplace
  3. Make personal contacts through a variety of modalities (electronic, face-to-face, home visits, etc.) to encourage parental engagement
  4. Serve as a liaison between teachers, parents, students, support staff and the community regarding educational programs, services and various student issues; assist in coordinating and arranging various programs and services to meet the needs of students.
  5. Establish and maintain partnerships with community agencies to facilitate and enhance support services for District students, parents and teachers.
  6. Serve as an informational resource to parents, staff and others concerning school programs, services, attendance issues and other matters; respond to inquiries and provide information concerning related activities, standards, guidelines, practices, goals, objectives, processes, policies and
  7. Meet, confer with, and interview parents in the identification of family needs and issues; provide information and materials to parents to assist in the location and utilization of school and community services and resources; refer parents to school

services or community resources as appropriate.

  1. Promote positive parenting throughout the school campuses by providing training opportunities for parents/guardians on strategies to promote student
  2. Participate and lead campus-based outreach activities, such as curriculum nights, and special events.
  3. Maintain accurate records of activities, parent participation, and results of efforts
  4. Assist in coordinating and arranging various programs and services to meet the needs of students, parents and teachers.
  5. Develop and execute programs and initiatives to enhance services and strengthen relationships between school and home examples; Parent Advisory Teams, parent workshops, family literacy training
  6. Properly uses and cares for equipment and material resources of the school system and effectively supervises and monitors others in the care, maintenance, and use of tools, equipment, and inventory.
  7. Serves on school system committees, task forces, and representatives groups as
  8. Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local Board policies, and state, federal, and local regulations.
  9. Performs any other job-related responsibilities and duties as assigned by the principal
Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk and use hands to finger, to handle, or feel objects, equipment, or controls. The employee frequently is required to talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, bend, stoop, squat, crouch and kneel. The employee must occasionally lift, push, pull, carry and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include near vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
