Copeland Elementary seeks a Part-Time Parent Facilitator to implement and empower a Title I parent program within the school and engage families in their children’s education.

Qualifications

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Must possess, at a minimum, a four-year degree from an accredited college or university in an area related to the following: Child Development, Family Dynamics and Family Needs, and Human Diversity, etc.

Certification or Licensure: None

Skills: Applicants must be able to demonstrate proficiency in written and verbal communication skills, be self-motivated, and work comfortably with school staff, parents, and the community. Knowledge of the use of technology is required.

Work Experience: Should have experience working within the community to build relationships with and obtain resources for the families being served.

PRIMARY DUTY:

This position is responsible for the implementation of an effective Title I parent program within the school and for empowering parents to build capacity and be involved in the education of their children.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Work directly with principals and teachers to ensure the delivery of an effective Title I parent involvement program which supports student success.

2. Help parents understand what their children need to know to be successful learners and offer specific ways for parents to support their children.

3. Help to build partnerships between parents, schools, and community organizations and to reach the hard-to-reach parents.

4. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing and establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with parents, teachers, specialists, and others.

5. Attend and conduct training meetings with parents to facilitate communication between parents, specialists, and instructional staff.

6. Assist parents/families in understanding and accessing community resources and public services available to them and serve as the liaison between parents, the community, and school officials.

7. Develop a booklet of available community resources to support students and their families.

8. Work with staff to build staff capacity between school and home.

9. Be available to parents and participate in family activities.

10. Submit schedules, reports, and documents relative to Title I regulations in a timely manner.

11. Attend district-wide meetings.

12. Assist in planning parent advisory council meetings.

13. Maintain related records, prepare reports, and follow confidential guidelines.

14. Perform related duties as assigned and keep up with the growth and general responsibilities of the position.

15. Carry out other duties, whether specifically listed above or not, as are assigned or required by such employee’s supervisor, other appropriate school personnel, law, board policy, administrative regulations, or department handbook as are reasonable to the efficient operation of the school system and its mission.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Required to attend school meetings, programs, and activities outside the instructional day as mandated by the RCSS contract. Some work beyond the school day may be required.
