Job summary

Comprehensive Community Action, Inc. is seeking a Parent Educator to develop and deliver parenting education programs for incarcerated individuals inside a correctional facility.

The role emphasizes trauma-informed, culturally responsive instruction and collaboration with reentry teams to support successful reintegration. The position is full-time (35 hours/week) with a schedule that includes four weekdays plus Saturday mornings, and requires flexibility to meet client needs within secure

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in parenting education, counseling, teaching, or group facilitation.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care and restorative practices.
  • Ability to work effectively in a secure facility with incarcerated populations.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and supporting underserved populations.
  • Experience in correctional settings or with justice-involved populations preferred.
  • Provide and maintain all required immunizations and background checks.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate evidence-based parenting classes and workshops for incarcerated parents.
  • Develop lesson plans and materials tailored to diverse literacy levels and cultural backgrounds.
  • Provide individual coaching or case management as needed.
  • Collaborate with reentry teams, mental health staff, and caseworkers to align programming with rehabilitative goals.
  • Maintain attendance records, progress reports, and participant documentation.
  • Coordinate with family services and visitation programs to promote healthy parent-child contact.
  • Evaluate program outcomes and suggest improvements based on feedback and goals.
  • Uphold institutional safety and security protocols.
  • Participate in training, team meetings, and professional development for corrections education.
  • Position is based in a correctional facility with movement within secure environments.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Parent Educator is responsible for developing and delivering parenting education programs to incarcerated individuals within the correctional facility. The goal is to enhance parenting skills, promote healthy family relationships, and support successful reintegration into the community. This position requires sensitivity to the unique challenges faced by justice-involved individuals and a commitment to trauma-informed, culturally responsive instruction.

WORK SCHEDULE DEMANDS:
  • This is a full-time, 35 hours per week position. (4 week days and Saturday morning hours)
  • Monday - Saturday.
  • Due to the nature of the job, this individual must be flexible with their schedule to accommodate the client population.
Requirements
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Education, Human Services, Psychology, or related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in parenting education, counseling, teaching, or group facilitation.
  • Strong understanding of trauma-informed care and restorative practices.
  • Ability to work effectively in a secure facility and manage group dynamics among incarcerated populations.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.

  • Experience working within correctional settings or with justice-involved populations, preferred.
  • Provide/maintain all required immunizations and/or vaccinations
  • Complete all required background checks
