Job summary

Greencastle Elementary School in Silver Spring is seeking a School Instructional Support specialist to collaborate with the Community School Coordinator and principal in strengthening family engagement and wraparound services. The role focuses on connecting families with school and county programs while advocating for parents and coordinating with community partners.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree and experience with school activities; some counseling background is desirable.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of school programs, the school community and available community services and resources in Montgomery County.
• Ability to work effectively with school staff, parents, the community, local organizations, and diverse socioeconomic groups.
• Ability to develop and implement programs to involve parents and the community in school affairs.
• Ability to serve as a parent advocate.
• Skill in organizing and working with groups.
• Excellent oral and written communications and human relations skills.
• Fluency in a second language is preferred for some positions.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to serve parents and the school community and enhance family engagement.
• Collaborate with the Community School Liaison in planning and implementing wrap around services.
• Identify and develop resources to support school programs for families.
• Serve as liaison between parents, families, the school, and community.
• Assist families in connecting with county services and school resources.
• Establish and maintain a school-community relationship across schools with similar needs.
