Primary Function

Parent Involvement Facilitators serve as liaisons between schools, parents, and community organizations and endeavor to increase parental involvement in schools. They are responsible for the implementation and maintenance of Family Engagement programs, including preparing, organizing, and coordinating materials, workshops, and training sessions.

Requirements
  • Educational Level: Associate’s Degree or two years of post‑secondary education from an accredited college is required; experience working jointly with families and schools and/or experience working in a Title I school preferred.
  • Certification/Licensing: None.
  • Proficiency Skills: Written and oral communication skills; ability to communicate well with students, families, school personnel, and the community; ability to read, comprehend and write correspondence and effectively present information; ability to deal with multiple tasks, computer competence, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Personal Skills: Pleasant personality; ability to interact with stakeholders using tactful yet effective skills; cooperative attitude; physical stamina to perform essential duties.
  • Salary: CCSS Classified Salary Schedule A08 (start pay $15.00‑max pay $22.71); steps awarded with verifiable experience; 190 work days; yearly salary is determined by multiplying the hourly pay rate by the number of work days, then dividing that total by 12 months.

Responsibilities

  • Shows initiative and assumes responsibility for all aspects of job responsibilities; performs routine duties and tasks with little or no direct supervision.
  • Exhibits time on task and a flexible, cooperative, progressive and hard‑working attitude and style. Limits personal business and phone calls to a minimum during work hours.
  • Maintains accurate records and prepares reports in a timely manner.
  • Plans and facilitates parent workshops based on needs assessments.
  • Facilitates workshops, classes, and activities for parents and provides materials and educational resources to families related to parental involvement.
  • Serves as a liaison between the school, parents, and community agencies.
  • Refers students and/or families to community agencies as needed.
  • Confers regularly with school's administration.
  • Confers regularly with teachers concerning the needs of students and works collaboratively with teachers and parents to arrange conferences.
  • Develop family engagement programs according to Federal guidelines by determining priorities, analyzing data and estimating cost.
  • Develop volunteer list and coordinate volunteer placements throughout the District, including screening, background checks and processing of volunteers.
  • Develop and maintain an up‑to‑date District Parent Involvement Policy and review school level Parent involvement Policy to ensure compliance with Federal Laws.
  • Prepare and implement Parent Education and Outreach materials, newsletters, workshop, website, and training sessions; provides technical assistance to schools.
  • Develops, analyzes, and distributes the results of parent surveys to parents, school staff, and district leadership.
  • Promotes shared decision‑making opportunities by involving parents in the planning and budgeting of parent engagement activities.
  • Maintains ongoing relationships with community organizations that provide services and resources in support of our schools’ educational programs.
  • Maintains records of all parent involvement activities, reports, surveys, program evaluations, and parent communications.
  • Promotes a family‑friendly school climate and maintains an inviting and welcoming Parent Resource Center for visiting families.
  • Work and communicate with the general public, internal and external customers, to provide information and quality services targeted to meet parent, teachers and student educational needs.
  • Maintain a library of resource materials for informational purposes; answers general and specific questions from groups and individuals.
  • Maintain knowledge of current policies, trends and developments concerning Federal guidelines of parent engagement by reading appropriate notices/interpretations, books and other literature and attending training sessions, meetings, conferences, etc.
  • Coordinate and development of an annual calendar and catalog to document Parent Education and list of services provided by the District.
  • Provide professional development to District staff or individual staff on effective strategies to engage parents and or effective communication with parents.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
