Parent Advocate (Bilingual Spanish Speaking)

Program: SUFFOLK COUNTY PREVENTIVE SERVICES

Basic Function of Position: To provide support and assistance to Preventive Services families who are participating in the program.

Responsibilities:

1. Work as an advocate for the preventive services clients and families.
2. Help teach parenting skills.
3. Help parents identify neighborhood resources.
4. Collaborate with caseworkers.
5. Regularly report on all activities performed for and/or with clients.
6. Provide support to the families in the program.
7. Assist families in connecting with community programs.
8. Assist in emergency situations.
9. Plan recreational activities with the clients.
10. On-Call 24/7 for emergency/crisis situations. A work cell phone will be provided and must be on at all times.

Qualifications:

1. High School Diploma.
2. Experience with social services.
3. Bilingual, Spanish Speaking is Required.
4. Valid NYS driver's license.
