Job summary

RATP Dev USA is seeking a dedicated Paratransit Driver for the Winston-Salem Transit Authority. You will provide safe transportation to individuals with disabilities and elderly passengers requiring specialized service, operating paratransit vehicles and ensuring passenger safety.

In this role, you will be responsible for assisting riders, following routes, and maintaining records. The position requires a valid CDL with passenger endorsement and flexibility for evenings/weekends.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid CDL license with passenger endorsement or Class B with passenger endorsement permit, with a clean driving record.
• Prior transportation or customer service experience preferred.
• CPR/First Aid certification is a plus.
• Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
• Ability to lift and assist passengers with mobility devices.

Responsibilities

• Operate paratransit vehicles in a safe and courteous manner.
• Assist passengers with boarding and alighting the vehicle.
• Follow scheduled routes and timetables, adhering to traffic laws.
• Maintain accurate records of passenger trips (pick-up/drop-off times).
• Communicate with dispatchers and passengers to provide excellent service.
• Perform routine vehicle inspections and report maintenance needs.
• Ensure vehicle cleanliness and upkeep.
• Respond to emergencies and provide assistance as needed.

The Paratransit Driver will be responsible for providing safe and efficient transportation services to individuals with disabilities and elderly passengers who require specialized transit services.

Location: 1060 Northwest Trade Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27101

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate paratransit vehicles in a safe and courteous manner.
• Assist passengers with boarding and alighting from the vehicle, ensuring their safety and comfort.
• Follow scheduled routes and timetables, adhering to all traffic laws and regulations.
• Maintain accurate records of passenger trips, including pick-up and drop-off times.
• Communicate effectively with dispatchers and passengers, providing excellent customer service.
• Perform routine vehicle inspections and report any maintenance issues.
• Ensure the cleanliness and upkeep of the vehicle.
• Respond to emergency situations and provide assistance as needed.

• Valid CDL license with passenger endorsement or class B with passenger endorsement permit, with a clean driving record.
• Previous experience in transportation or customer service is preferred.
• Ability to operate a paratransit vehicle and assist passengers with mobility challenges.

• Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
• CPR and First Aid certification is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift and assist passengers with mobility devices.
• Ability to sit for extended periods and operate a vehicle.

Pay: $18.75 per hour
