Job summary

Allentown School District is seeking a Part-Time Paraprofessional to support instructional activities district-wide. The role assists in classrooms, helps with ESOL, Title, and special education tasks, and supports students under supervision.

Starting at $21.75 per hour, this position requires qualified paraprofessional credentials, clearances, and eligibility to work in the U.S. The district values safe, inclusive learning environments and strong teamwork.

Qualifications

• Must meet educational requirements for paraprofessional per federal law.
• Must meet basic reading, writing, and math competencies.
• Valid Act 34, Act 114, and Act 151 clearances.
• Valid tuberculosis test and physical with ADA accommodations.
• U.S. citizen or valid work visa holder.
• Board may determine additional qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Assist in providing a safe, supportive atmosphere and learning environment.
• Implement instructional directives of professional staff as assigned by the principal.
• Assist students in ESOL, Title, special education, library, reading and related areas.
• Respond to emergencies per standing orders and policies.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by the Superintendent or principal.

Starting Salary: $21.75/hr.

Qualifications:

• Must meet educational requirements for "highly qualified paraprofessional," as defined by the federal laws and No Child Left Behind.
• Must meet basic reading, writing, and math competencies.
• Valid Act 34, 114, and Act 151 clearances.
• Valid tuberculosis test and physical examination with ADA reasonable accommodations stipulated, as appropriate.
• U. S. citizen or holder of a valid work visa.
• Such additional or alternatives to the above qualifications as the board or superintendent may determine appropriate and acceptable.

Summary

Assists in providing a safe, supportive atmosphere and an environment conducive for learning for all students. Implements the instructional directives of the professional employees, as assigned by the principal.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist the principal and other professionals in maintaining a safe and orderly, but non-oppressive, environment in the school.
• Assist the principal and other professionals in the delivery of appropriate instructional and tutorial strategies.
• Assist all students in building routines and in mastery of instructional materials involving ESOL, Title, special education, library, reading and related areas.
• Respond appropriately to emergency situations as per standing orders and other policies and procedures.
• Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as may be assigned or delegated by the Superintendent of Schools or principal.
