Job summary

The Allentown School District is seeking a Paraprofessional (ESOL Support) at Central Elementary School. You will assist with instructional support and help create a safe, supportive environment for learning under supervision of professional staff.

You will work with ESOL, Title, special education and reading initiatives to help students build routines and mastery of instructional materials. The role emphasizes safety, accessibility, and collaboration with school leaders.

Qualifications

• Must meet educational requirements for "highly qualified paraprofessional," as defined by the federal laws and No Child Left Behind.
• Must meet basic reading, writing, and math competencies.
• Valid Act 34, 114, and Act 151 clearances.
• Valid tuberculosis test and physical examination with ADA reasonable accommodations stipulated, as appropriate.
• U. S. citizen or holder of a valid work visa.
• Such additional or alternatives to the above qualifications as the board or superintendent may determine appropriate and acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Assist the principal and other professionals in maintaining a safe and orderly, but non-oppressive, environment in the school.
• Assist the principal and other professionals in the delivery of appropriate instructional and tutorial strategies.
• Assist all students in building routines and in mastery of instructional materials involving ESOL, Title, special education, library, reading and related areas.
• Respond appropriately to emergency situations as per standing orders and other policies and procedures.
• Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as may be assigned or delegated by the Superintendent of Schoolsor principal.

Summary
