SCHOOL CITY OF EAST CHICAGO is seeking a Paraprofessional to provide instructional support and assist teachers district-wide. The role involves working closely with students, groups, and certified staff to reinforce learning and ensure IEP goals are met.

The paraprofessional will help maintain confidentiality, support classroom management, and perform clerical duties as needed. Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent and relevant certification or college coursework.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Two years of college coursework required; or equivalent.
• Associate degree or ParaPro certification needed; includes reading, writing, and math support.

Responsibilities

• Work under the direct supervision of a certified teacher.
• Assist individual students or small groups to reinforce learning.
• Support general education classes as described in the IEP.
• Maintain confidentiality for each student in special education.
• Assist with strategies to reinforce learning based on student needs.
• Monitors work, corrects papers, and supervises tests and make-up work.
• Serves as chief source of information to guest teachers in the absence of regular staff.
• Performs clerical tasks and organize student assessment results.
• Assists with classroom management and computer lab activities.
• Performs non-instructional duties such as snack time or lunch duty.
