Job summary

West Lafayette Community School Corporation is seeking a Part-time Paraprofessional – Special Education to support individual students and small groups under the supervision of a teacher, and to help implement students' IEPs in daily activities. You will collaborate with teachers, counselors, and staff to promote an inclusive learning environment, assist with instructional tasks, and monitor progress.

The position runs 4 hours daily, 186 days per year, with starting pay at $15/hour and potential

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required or equivalent.
  • Two years of college coursework or an associate degree preferred.
  • Passing ParaPro Assessment or equivalent credential if required by district.
  • Experience in schools or childcare is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides instructional support to individuals or small groups under a supervising teacher.
  • Collaborates with teachers and staff to enhance students' educational experience.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provides instructional support to individual students or small groups under the direction of a supervising teacher
  • Collaborates with teachers and staff to enhance students' educational experience
  • Implements students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) as directed

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
  • Education, Training, and Experience Required:
    • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent required
    • Minimum Education Requirement (one of the following):
      • Completion of at least two years (60 course credits) of college-level coursework
      • An associate degree or higher
      • A passing score on the ParaPro Assessment
    • Prior experience in schools or child care
    • Previous experience working with individuals with special needs
  • Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Worker Characteristics:
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, counselors, parents, and other professionals
    • Excellent dependability and punctuality
    • Positive and enthusiastic attitude
WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Works indoors in a school environment
  • May work in close proximity to students and staff
  • Occasionally exposed to noise levels typical in school settings
