Job summary

Fremont Economic Development Corp. is seeking a Paraprofessional for Salida High School to support students with cognitive, physical, academic, and behavioral needs under the direction of teachers and the principal.

Responsibilities include assisting with instruction, helping modify curriculum, maintaining confidentiality, and using basic computer skills to support educational goals in a rural Colorado community.

Qualifications

• Understands basic information about different types of disabilities.
• Assists in implementing student individual education plans under the guidance of the teacher/case manager/therapist.
• Able to understand and assist with literacy instruction at the grade levels assigned.
• Is aware of and understands the medical needs of students.
• Assists with accommodations and modifications as needed.
• Stays current on professional knowledge and technical skills through training opportunities and through supervision.
• Understands basic information about childhood development for the ages/grade levels assigned.
• Able to understand and assist with math instruction at the grade levels assigned.
• Able to utilize effective behavioral strategies.
• Able to use de-escalation skills when needed.
• Participates in data collection as needed.

Job: Paraprofessional- Salida High School

The Special Education Paraprofessional will work under the direction of the Special Education Teacher and school Principal. They will work directly with special education students with cognitive, physical, academic and/or behavioral concerns. Assist special education teacher and general education teacher to help modify curriculum and subject materials for students.

Other responsibilities include:

• Assists with small group or individual instruction.
• Maintain strict privacy and confidentiality.
• Be flexible and compassionate in dealing with students, teachers and with the community.
