Job summary

Bibb County Public Schools - Taylor Elementary School in Macon, Georgia is seeking a Paraprofessional for PreK to support students with small group instruction and computer-assisted learning.

Under supervision of teachers, you will assist with lesson activities, supervision, classroom material preparation, and clerical tasks, with GaPSC certifications required.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or 60 sem hrs required; some experience with children preferred.
• Experience with computers and instructional software desired.
• Equivalent education/experience acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Conducts small group or individual classroom activities based on lesson plans developed by the teacher.
• Assists with the supervision of students.
• Assists students with the operation of computers and the use of selected software.
• Checks, reviews, and/or grades student classwork, homework, and tests; observes and reports on students' performance—including progress, weaknesses, special needs, etc.
• Assists with routine classroom record keeping.
• Assists with preparation of instructional materials (copying, displays, AV materials, equipment, etc.).
• Observes child behavior and reports observations as necessary.
• Assists students with classwork; works with children needing special attention.
• Monitors student behavior in classroom, cafeteria, playground, etc.
• Performs clerical tasks and duties.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB SUMMARY

Assists in providing a well-organized, smoothly functioning class environment in which students can learn subject matter and develop skills through the use of small group instruction and computer-assisted learning.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

This job has/has no supervisory responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Performs clerical tasks and duties as necessary.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Associate’s degree or sixty (60) semester hours or ninety (90) quarter hours required. Some experience working with children preferred. Experience working with computers and instructional software desired. Or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and/or training that provides the required knowledge and abilities.

Salary/Terms/Benefits:

• 182day work year;7.5 hours per day
• Salary: Grade 111B: Hourly (placement on salary schedule based on years or experience). Up to ten (10) years allowed. The stated salary range reflects the opportunity for pay over the course of the employee’s tenure. The top pay is not a potential starting salary.
