Job summary

Allentown School District is seeking a Part-Time Paraprofessional for Kindergarten Support. You will assist teachers, help create a safe, supportive learning environment, and support instructional activities under the principal's direction.

Starting salary is $21.75 per hour. Required qualifications include the educational standards for a highly qualified paraprofessional, passing Act 34/114/151 clearances, and U.S. citizenship or work authorization; comprehensive benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• Must meet educational requirements for the highly qualified paraprofessional as defined by law.
• Must meet basic reading, writing, and math competencies.
• Valid Act 34, 114, and Act 151 clearances.
• TB test and physical with ADA accommodations where appropriate.
• U.S. citizen or holder of a valid work visa.
• Additional qualifications may be determined appropriate by the board or superintendent.

Responsibilities

• Assist in maintaining a safe, orderly, but non-oppressive learning environment.
• Assist in delivering instructional and tutorial strategies.
• Help students with routines and mastery of instructional materials in ESOL, Title, special education, library, reading.
• Respond to emergencies per standing orders and policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or principal.

Qualifications:

• Must meet basic reading, writing, and math competencies.
• Valid Act 34, 114, and Act 151 clearances.
• Valid tuberculosis test and physical examination with ADA reasonable accommodations stipulated, as appropriate.
• U. S. citizen or holder of a valid work visa.
• Such additional or alternatives to the above qualifications as the board or superintendent may determine appropriate and acceptable.

Summary

Assists in providing a safe, supportive atmosphere and an environment conducive for learning for all students. Implements the instructional directives of the professional employees, as assigned by the principal.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist the principal and other professionals in maintaining a safe and orderly, but non-oppressive, environment in the school.
• Assist the principal and other professionals in the delivery of appropriate instructional and tutorial strategies.
• Assist all students in building routines and in mastery of instructional materials involving ESOL, Title, special education, library, reading and related areas.
• Respond appropriately to emergency situations as per standing orders and other policies and procedures.
• Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as may be assigned or delegated by the Superintendent of Schools or principal.
