Job summary

Allentown School District is seeking a Paraprofessional (Kindergarten Support) to assist in creating a safe, supportive learning environment and to implement instructional directives under supervision.

The role requires meeting federal requirements for paraprofessionals and clearance checks, with duties spanning classroom support, instructional delivery, and student routines across ESOL, Title, and special education contexts.

Qualifications

• Must meet highly qualified paraprofessional educational requirements as defined by federal laws and No Child Left Behind.
• Must meet basic reading, writing, and math competencies.
• Valid Act 34, 114, and Act 151 clearances.
• US citizen or holder of a valid work visa.

Responsibilities

• Assist the principal and other professionals in maintaining a safe and orderly, but non-oppressive, environment in the school.
• Assist the principal and other professionals in the delivery of appropriate instructional and tutorial strategies.
• Assist all students in building routines and in mastery of instructional materials involving ESOL, Title, special education, library, reading and related areas.
• Respond appropriately to emergency situations as per standing orders and other policies and procedures.
• Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as may be assigned or delegated by the Superintendent of Schools or principal.

Starting Salary: $18.57/hr.

• Must meet educational requirements for "highly qualified paraprofessional," as defined by the federal laws and No Child Left Behind.
