Job summary

Omaha Public Schools is seeking a Paraprofessional for the Positive Action Center (PAC) in Omaha, Nebraska. This part-time role runs August through May while students are in session and starts at $18 per hour.

You will support teachers, help with assignments, and contribute to a positive learning environment. Qualifications include an Associate's degree or 48 semester hours, competency testing, and a strong attendance record.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree, OR completion of 48 semester hours or 72 quarter hours.
• Competency test to demonstrate ability to assist reading, writing and mathematics.
• Previous PAC or ISS/SSC experience preferred.
• Evidence of good mental and physical health.
• Ability to perform as a team member.
• Reliable transportation needed.
• One or more years of job-related experience or its equivalent (preferred).
• Excellent attendance and work record.

Responsibilities

• Interact with PAC administrator, students, staff and parents courteously.
• Record data for documentation and evaluation.
• Maintain confidentiality.
• Serve as a positive, mature role model.
• Collaborate with teachers to collect assignments and provide academic assistance.
• Maintain an instructional focus among students in the room.
• Learn alternative methods for handling behavior.
• Ensure safety while managing crises and diverse needs.
