Job summary

Avon Elementary School is seeking a caring and dependable individual to fill a long-term substitute Special Education Paraprofessional role. The position involves supporting students with a range of learning, behavioral, social, and daily living needs under guidance from licensed staff.

Responsibilities include providing academic support, reinforcing skills, and collaborating with teachers to monitor progress and implement IEPs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minnesota driver’s license or evidence of mobility.
• Ability to work effectively with students with diverse learning and behavioral needs.
• Strong communication, patience, flexibility, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to follow student IEPs, behavioral plans, district procedures, and staff direction.
• Previous experience with children or students with special needs is preferred but not required.

Avon Elementary School is looking for a caring, dependable, and patient individual to serve as a long-term substitute Special Education Paraprofessional. This position provides an opportunity to work closely with students and staff while supporting students with a variety of learning, behavioral, social, and daily living needs.

The Special Education Paraprofessional works under the direction of the principal and guidance of special education and general education teachers.

Responsibilities may include:

• Providing academic and classroom support to students individually and in small groups.
• Reinforcing skills and concepts introduced by licensed staff.
• Supporting students in accessing and participating in classroom activities and assignments.

Physical Requirements:

This position requires the ability to frequently stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and move throughout the school environment. Depending on student needs, the position may also require assisting with mobility, lifting, carrying, pushing, or otherwise moving objects or students.
