Meadow ISD Paraprofessional Opening

Meadow ISD is seeking a dedicated and student-centered individual to serve as an Instructional Aide. This position provides instructional and clerical support to teachers while assisting students with academic, behavioral, and, when applicable, physical needs. The ideal candidate enjoys working with young learners and is committed to supporting student success in a structured, positive learning environment.

Primary Purpose

Provide instructional assistance to students under the direct supervision of a certified teacher. Assist in preparing, conducting, and managing classroom activities while supporting both general education and special education student needs.

Key Responsibilities
Instructional Support
  • Assist the teacher in delivering instruction and reinforcing learning in reading, math, and other core subjects.
  • Work with individual students or small groups to support academic progress.
  • Support implementation of district curriculum and instructional materials, including HQIM such as Bluebonnet Learning.
  • Assist in preparing instructional materials, classroom activities, and displays.
  • Help administer and score assignments and assessments as directed.
Student Support and Special Education Assistance
  • Assist in meeting the instructional, behavioral, and physical needs of students, including those with disabilities.
  • Support implementation of IEPs, accommodations, and behavior plans as directed by the teacher.
  • Assist with personal care needs (e.g., feeding, hygiene, mobility) as required.
  • Help manage student behavior, including intervening in crisis situations when necessary.
  • Recognize and respond to students’ individual academic, physical, and emotional needs.
Student Supervision and Management
  • Supervise students throughout the school day, including classroom, transitions, lunch, and playground.
  • Help maintain a safe, structured, and positive learning environment.
  • Communicate student needs or concerns to the teacher promptly.
  • Reinforce expectations for behavior and student engagement.
Classroom Organization and Support
  • Assist with classroom organization, record-keeping, and preparation of materials.
  • Help maintain a clean, orderly, and engaging classroom environment.
  • Support teachers with administrative tasks and required documentation.
  • Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers as needed.
Collaboration and Professional Responsibilities
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and campus staff.
  • Participate in staff development, meetings, and training as required.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student information.
  • Follow district policies, safety protocols, and emergency procedures.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and positive relationships with students, staff, and families.
Qualifications
Education/Certification
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Valid Texas educational aide certificate
Additional Requirement (ESSA – if applicable):
  • Associate’s degree, two years of college coursework, OR passing score on a formal academic assessment for instructional aides in Title I programs
Special Knowledge/Skills
  • Ability to assist in instruction for reading, writing, and mathematics
  • Ability to work effectively with children, including students with disabilities
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Experience
  • Experience working with children preferred
  • Experience supporting students with special needs preferred
Additional Information
  • Assignment may be in any grade level K–12 based on campus needs
