Job summary

The Academies of Math and Science in Phoenix, AZ is hiring a Paraprofessional (Teacher’s Assistant) to support teachers and help scholars succeed. You will work with students one-on-one or in small groups, support classroom management, and assist with instructional materials in a caring, structured environment.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or equivalent (or an associate degree), prior experience with children, and a willingness to pursue roles in education.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent and successful completion of paraprofessional exam, OR Associate’s degree (or higher).
• Previous experience working with children in an educational or youth-focused setting.

Responsibilities

• Support lead Teachers in delivering instruction by assisting with lesson activities, classroom management, and transitions.
• Work one-on-one or in small groups with students to reinforce skills, reteach concepts, and support individualized learning plans.
• Assist in maintaining a safe, orderly, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes respect and engagement.
• Substitute for lead teachers as needed to ensure learning continues uninterrupted.
• Prepare instructional materials, set up classroom resources, and assist with grading or documentation as directed.
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and support staff to meet the academic and social-emotional needs of students.
• Model professionalism, respect, and high expectations in every interaction with students, staff, and families.
