Job summary

Brevard Public Schools is seeking Paraprofessionals ESOL to assist certified personnel in achieving instructional goals and supervise students in classrooms and related activities.

Positions require bilingual fluency (English and the language of the students) and either a high school diploma with 60 college hours or an associate’s degree or higher. A valid Florida driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of 60 semester hours with at least 30 hours in general education core curriculum and/or child development and education, or successful ParaPro test with a score of 457+.
• Experience working with children in a classroom setting.
• Bilingual; fluent in English and the language of the students for the allocated position; must be approved by District ESOL Coordinator.
• For Paraprofessional II: Associate’s degree or higher from an accredited institution.
• Bilingual requirement includes fluency in English and the language of the students.

Responsibilities

• Assist certified personnel in achieving instructional goals through participation in curricular activities and supervision of students.
• Support ESOL students to develop language skills and participate in classroom activities.
• Maintain appropriate student supervision and behavior according to district policies.

PARAPROFESSIONAL I (GRADE 18)

EDUCATION AND RELEVANT EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

REQUIRED:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of 60 semester hours from an accredited educational institution with at least 30 semester
  hours in general education core curriculum and/or child development and education or successful
  completion of the ParaPro test with a score of 457 or higher.
• Experience working with children in a classroom setting.
• Bilingual; required to be fluent in English and fluent in the language of the students for the allocated
  position. Must be approved by District ESOL Coordinator.

PARAPROFESSIONAL II (GRADE 19)

EDUCATION AND RELEVANT EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

REQUIRED:

• Associate’s degree or higher from an accredited educational institution required.
• Experience working with children in a classroom setting.
• Bilingual; required to be fluent in English and fluent in the language of the students for the allocated
  position. Must be approved by District ESOL Coordinator.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES

REQUIRED:

• Valid State Driver’s License.
