Job summary

Warsaw Community Schools is seeking a paraprofessional EL to provide supplemental services to English Learners as they learn academic English in a school setting. Reports to the Principal and works under the EL teacher.

Responsibilities include supporting EL students, assisting in adapting to a new culture, attending PLCs, and participating in staff development; position is 180 days and non-exempt.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent.
• Eligible for 48 college credits or able to pass ParaPro Assessment.
• Ability to work with students individually or in small groups under supervision.
• Fluently bilingual in Spanish and English is desirable.

• Supplement services for EL students to assist with academic language in the content or grade level classroom under the direct supervision of the EL or classroom teacher.
• Assist students in adapting to a new culture.
• Assist EL students with school work to increase academic language.
• Attend EL Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) for direction and professional development.
• Participates in staff development activities as recommended by the principal.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor(s)

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma/GED, 48 college credits or the ability to pass the ParaPro Assessment
• Ability to work with students in an individualized, small group or classroom setting under the direct supervision of a certified teacher
• Self-motivated and able to prioritize and organize responsibilities.
• Fluently bilingual in spoken and written Spanish and English is desirable
