Job summary

The Salvation Army is seeking a dedicated preschool assistant to support pre-diagnosed children with severe to moderate disabilities in Head Start/Child Care collaboration programs in the Chicago area. You will help with safety, classroom activities, and communication between staff, children, and families.

Ideal candidates have at least a high school diploma and one year of preschool experience, with a strong commitment to compassionate service and teamwork in a faith-based organization.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
• Experience: One year experience in a pre-school setting. Some experience with young children.
• Policies: This individual will adhere to all policies and procedures in carrying out the responsibilities of this position.

Responsibilities

• Ensures safety by following safety practices and daily checks.
• Assists teaching staff in classrooms with children with disabilities.
• Supports physical development activities and proper behavior in transit and on the bus.
