Job summary

The Salvation Army North and Central Illinois Division in Chicago is seeking a Para Professional to support pre-diagnosed preschool children with severe to moderate disabilities in Head Start/Child Care collaboration programs.

You will assist teaching staff in classrooms, help maintain a safe and nurturing learning environment, and promote positive communication and development for the children. This is a non-exempt, full-time role reporting to the Teacher/Site Director.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
• One year experience in a pre-school setting.
• Experience with young children preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety by performing daily safety checks and supervising the classroom.
• Assist teaching staff in activities and support children with disabilities.
• Maintain a learning environment conducive to physical and social development.
• Promote effective communication among children and with staff.
