Job summary

Van Buren Area Online Application Consortium is seeking a Bus Aide to help create a safe and secure bus environment for students. You will assist the Driver with student management, attendance, and safety while following established transport policies.

The role requires basic childcare experience, being 18 or older, and the ability to pass a background check. Training in Special Needs is required or to be completed, with a commitment to punctuality and teamwork in a school setting.

Qualifications

• Must have personal or professional experience with basic childcare.

• Must possess or complete Special Needs Training.

Responsibilities

• Assist in sanitizing the interior of the bus to provide a clean, safe environment.
• Assist the Driver with student management.
• Assist the Driver with maintaining attendance sheets.
• Maintain working knowledge of the Transportation Operation Manual.
• Coordinate with the Director of Transportation on safety concerns.
• Attend all staff, team meetings and training as requested.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the Director of Transportation.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assists in sanitizing the interior of the bus to provide clean and safe environment
• Assists the Driver with student management
• Assists the Driver with maintaining the attendance sheets
• Working knowledge of the Transportation Operation Manual
• Coordinates with Director of Transportation all safety concerns
• Attends all staff meetings, team meetings and training as requested
• Performs any other duties as assigned by the Director of Transportation

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Sitting, standing, lifting and carrying (up to 50 pounds), reaching, squatting, climbing stairs, kneeling, must be able to see and hear the entire classroom, and moving light furniture may be required.

SAFETY AND HEALTH:

Knowledge of universal hygiene precautions.

EQUIPMENT/MATERIALS HANDLED:

Must know how to properly operate or be willing to learn to operate all multimedia equipment including current technology.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Must be able to work within various degrees of noise, temperature, and air quality. Interruptions of work are routine. Flexibility and patience are required. Job responsibilities may include both inside and outside duties. Must be self-motivated and able to complete job assignments without direct supervision. After hour work may be required. May make site or home visits when needed and appropriate. Must be able to work under stressful conditions.
