Job description

The position is eligible for a bonus!

  • Located on 450 lakefront acres in Hillsborough, New Hampshire, Wediko School is a residential treatment center offering therapeutic and educational services for middle and high school-aged youth experiencing significant social-emotional, behavioral, and academic challenges.
  • Wediko School Paraprofessionals/Assistant Teachers provide rehabilitative assistance for students in the classroom, along with supervision and guidance of students in the milieu environment. They work closely with classroom and special education teachers to model positive behavior, support classroom structures, and facilitate student learning. They also communicate with dorm staff, supervisors, and school personnel to ensure the safety and structure of the residential and academic programs.

How You Will Be Making A Difference

  • Provide rehabilitative assistance for students requiring social and behavioral support during the school day.
  • Assist teachers in creating an environment with clear and consistent behavior standards.
  • Help establish consistent routines for managing students’ independent and group work.
  • Monitor and record students’ learning progress.
  • Establish and model appropriate relationships with students.
  • Support behavior management within school and classroom structures.
  • Participate in supervision and assistant teacher training programs.

Therapeutic Milieu

  • Create a nurturing, safe, and consistent environment in the dorm setting.
  • Lead or assist in leading group transitions (breakfast, lunch, after school).
  • Maintain structured routines in the dorm for morning wake-up, meals, and other activities.
  • Participate in dorm weekend on-call and overnight rotations.

Support

  • Provide safe transportation for students.
  • Support and assist members of school and dorm teams.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or 48 credits in education or human services.
  • NH DOE Para II licensure or willingness to obtain it.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Satisfactory completion of CPI Training.
  • Preferred: a driving record suitable for transporting students in Wediko vehicles.

Abilities Required

Ability to navigate the rugged terrain of the NH campus, participate in sports and indoor activities, and perform physical tasks such as bending, holding, and lifting as per CPI techniques.
