Job summary

Southeastern Reg Vocational Technical School District in Massachusetts is seeking a dedicated paraprofessional to provide 1:1 support for a student with medical needs, assisting teachers and contributing to a safe learning environment.

You will help adapt and implement instructional materials, follow accommodation plans, and promote the learner’s independence while maintaining strict confidentiality of records.

Qualifications

• CNA preferred for assisting students with medical needs.
• Associates’ degree or high school diploma with relevant industry experience.
• Experience as a teacher or paraprofessional strongly preferred.
• Ability to adapt to changing needs in a fast-paced setting.
• Maintain confidentiality of student information and records.

Job description

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• 1:1 for a student with medical needs.


• Helps or carry out lesson plans, modify instructional materials based upon the directions provided by the vocationalor general education teacher.


• Uses strategies, equipment, materials, and technologies, as directed by accommodation plans to accomplish instructional objectives.


• Assists in adapting and implementing instructional strategies and materials as directed by the Individualized Learning Plan.


• Uses strategies as directed to facilitate effective integration into various settings.


• Uses strategies that promote the learner’s independence, as directed.


• Follows instructions of vocational teacher, general education teacher, and administrators and supervisors.


• Acts as a role model for students.


• Demonstrates commitment to assisting learners in achieving their highest potential.


• Has working knowledge of ethical practices for confidential communication about individuals with exceptional learning needs.


• Keeps documented records of successful strategies and milestones to be shared with vocational education teacher.


• All other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• CNA preferred.


• Minimum of an Associates’ degree or High School diploma and relevant industry experience.


• Prior experience as a teacher or paraprofessional, strongly preferred.


• Strong work ethic, positive attitude, a genuine interest in working with young people in a rich multicultural environment.


• Ability to adapt to changing needs in a fast-paced setting.


• Ability to maintain confidentiality of student information and records.


• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Full time, school year (10 months), 37.5 hours a week
