Job summary

ESS Towanda, PA is seeking a Paraprofessional to assist in K-12 settings, supporting students with physical disabilities and daily living activities. The role involves personal care duties to maximize participation in inclusive environments and to help students with health monitoring and classroom adjustments.

Candidates should have a high school diploma; PA clearances (State Police, FBI) and health forms are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required; Associates Degree preferred.
• Pennsylvania State Police Clearance.
• Child Abuse Clearance.
• FBI Fingerprinting.
• School Health Form: Physical and Tuberculosis Test.
• Pennsylvania Department of Education Form 6004: Arrest/Conviction Report and Certification.
• Continuing Education Hours (Based on Date of Hire).
• Act 126.

Responsibilities

• Assist with self-sufficiency training and maintenance of skills for children with physical disabilities
• Assume duties of a personal care nature which will allow the children to participate to the maximum extent in the least restrictive environment
• Encourage, support, and educate the students by assisting in the performance of activities of daily living necessary for his/her comfort, well-being, and integrity
• Assist students in managing and maintaining his/her environment to meet his/her special physical and psychological needs
• Monitor the incidence and prevalence of selected health problems
• Monitor psycho-social adjustment to medical conditions
• Assist teacher or students to arrange the environment of the classroom to best meet the students' needs
• Attend training sessions, in-services, workshops, and/or meetings, as requested
• Demonstrate cooperation and flexibility in performing other related duties as assigned by school administration and ESS
• Understand and adhere to all ESS and school district policies and procedures
