Job summary

Applitrack in Suffield, CT seeks a paraprofessional to support special education services at Suffield Middle School. You will assist instruction under a special education teacher and help implement IEPs, with responsibilities including bus transitions and aiding students with physical or behavioral needs.

The role is full-time during the school year, 33.75 hours per week, with hourly pay per the Teamsters contract. Immediate availability is expected.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or 2 years of college credit or pass a paraprofessional assessment.

• Ability to assist instruction and support in student transitions and activities.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with instruction under the direction of a special education teacher.

• Support students with physical or behavioral needs during transitions.

Period of Employment: Full Time School Year – 33.75 hours per week

Reports to: Building Administrator/Special Services Director

Performance Responsibilities:

• Assist students with instruction under the direction of a special education teacher.
• Assist teacher staff in the implementation of an Individualized Education Plan (IEP)
• May need to assist with transitioning students to and/or from buses; when necessary, physically assist students out of or into vehicles of transportation.
• May need to assist students with specific physical or behavioral needs through transitions within the classroom or school.
• Other duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications:

Candidate should hold an Associate's degree or 2 years of college credit or pass a State Board of Education adopted paraprofessional assessment, which assesses content knowledge in mathematics, reading and writing and an understanding of how to assist in the instruction of these topics.
