Job summary

Boys & Girls Club of North Central Illinois is seeking a dedicated paraeducator to assist the preschool instructor with daily routines and student support. You will reinforce learning for individuals or small groups, prepare materials, and help supervise activities in classrooms and on field trips.

The role requires patience, good communication, and teamwork, with preferred experience in a classroom and CPR/First Aid certification.

Qualifications

• Paraprofessional educator license (PEL) required or preferred.
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
• 2+ years of classroom experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist the preschool instructor with daily routines and reinforce instruction for individuals or small groups.
• Support planning, organization, and implementation of age-appropriate learning and recreational activities.
• Prepare and organize instructional materials for the classroom.
• Set up and take down work areas and centers to support the teacher.
• Provide emotional support and guidance to students with a friendly, patient attitude.
• Supervise students in the classroom, on the playground, or on field trips; monitor behavior per procedures.
• Report student progress, performance, and behavior to the teacher as appropriate.
• Assist with health and safety rules and toilet training as needed.
• Maintain calm, safe, and organized classroom environments.
• Carry out related duties as assigned.

Job Summary

Fulfill the Boys and Girls Club mission by assisting the preschool instructor with daily work routines. Responsibilities include providing reinforcement of instruction to individuals or small groups of students, performing activities in the classroom or outside, preparing/organizing instructional materials, and performing various clerical duties as assigned.

Key Roles/Responsibilities:

• Reports to Early Childhood teacher
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent teamwork skills
• Ability to remain calm and patient.
• Assist with planning, organization, and implementation of age-appropriate learning and recreational activities that meet individual and developmental needs of the child.
• Prepare/organize materials for the classroom.
• Provide support to the teacher by setting up and taking down work areas and centers
• Assist students by providing proper examples, emotional support, a friendly attitude, and general guidance.
• Assist in supervising students in the classroom, on the playground, or on field trips; monitor and control the behavior of students according to approved procedures; report student progress, performance, and behavior to the teacher as appropriate.
• Assure the health and safety of students by following health and safety rules; assist students with toilet training when needed.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
