Woodward Public Schools seeks an Elementary/Early Childhood Paraprofessional to support teachers in creating a positive learning environment and to foster students' development.

The role involves assisting with classroom activities, maintaining technology equipment, and helping with assessments and media center tasks, under supervision of licensed staff and administration.

Qualifications

  • Health and inoculation certificate on file.
  • Knowledge of the operation of various office machines.
  • Must pass spelling and math tests.

  • Prep and ensure the lab is clean, charged and ready for classes each day.
  • Assist and work with classroom teacher to provide targeted, appropriate skills for students.
  • Keep computers/IPads updated with tasks that are applicable for our students.
  • Keep this time meaningful and instructional.
  • Help facilitate benchmark assessments for our students.
  • Help maintain and troubleshoot for carts and classrooms.
  • Assist with training other staff on the use of technology in other areas.
  • Assist with inventory and shelving of the Media Center.

Job Description

Purpose:The Early Childhood CenterP.E. Paraprofessional will assist the assigned teacher(s) in creating a positive learning environment to facilitate the personal, social, and intellectual development of the students. To accomplish these tasks, the P.E.Paraprofessional shall work closely with the staff and administration of the district.

Responsible to: Assigned Teaching Staff and Principal, and Superintendent

Payment rate:Salary and benefits as established by the Board of Education

Qualifications:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent and preferred sixty hours of college credit or successful completion of the approved assessment for NCLB.
  2. Health and Inoculation Certificate on file in the central office (after employment offer is made).
  3. Knowledge of the operation of various office machines.
  4. Must pass spelling and math tests.
  5. Desire to continue career improvement by enhancing skills and job performance.
  6. No Child Left Behind certification.

Essential Functions:

Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:

  1. Requires stooping, bending, kneeling, turning, and reaching.
  2. Requires prolonged sitting or standing.
  3. Must occasionally work in noisy and crowded environments, with numerous interruptions.

General Responsibilities:

  1. Ability to prepare for classroom activities under the supervision of a licensed teacher.
  2. Ability to work with small groups of students to reinforce material initially introduced by the teacher.
  3. Ability to assist individual children in need of special attention.
  4. Ability to perform clerical duties as required.
  5. Ability to guide independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work set up by the teacher.
  6. Ability to set up audiovisual equipment.
  7. Ability to assist teacher with non-instructional classroom duties, such as snack, toilet, and clothing routines.
  8. Ability to assist with reading and storytelling.
  9. Ability to assist in drill work.
  10. Ability to observe and follow all school district policies at all times.
  11. Ability to respond to information requests in a cooperative, courteous, and timely manner.
  12. Ability to keep student and personnel information and records confidential.
  13. Ability to implement and follow all district health and safety policies, including all precautions of the Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan.
  14. Ability to perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities as directed by the principal or teacher.
  15. Ability to Supervise student conduct in the classroom or in such areas as the study hall, library, cafeteria or playground.
  16. Develop effective relationships with students and with other staff members.
  17. Ability to perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities as directed by the superintendent.

Term of Employment:Support contract, non-exempt from wage and hour

Evaluation:Performance effectiveness will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of Board of Education Policy.
