The Aptus Group is seeking a committed Paraprofessional to support incarcerated adolescents in a juvenile court school setting in Sylmar, CA. You will assist teachers, help with daily activities, and contribute to students' academic and personal growth.

This part-time role offers weekly pay, professional development, sick time, and a collaborative team environment. Candidates should have a high school diploma and a passion for working with youth.

Formación

• High school diploma or equivalent required; some college preferred.
• 6 months of youth education experience preferred.
• Comfortable in juvenile court school setting with students ages 12–19.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Reliable transportation.
• Ability to stay calm, patient, and empathetic in a structured facility.

Responsabilidades

• Assist teachers with instruction, supervision, and daily activities.
• Staff may support multiple students or classrooms due to frequent student movement.
• Provide one-on-one or small-group academic support to students.
• Foster a safe, respectful, and supportive classroom environment.
• Encourage student engagement, participation, and positive behavior.
• Support students’ emotional and social development with compassion and patience.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to facility policies and procedures.
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and support staff to meet student needs.

The Aptus Group is looking for a committed Paraprofessional to work in a classroom setting at a juvenile detention facility in the Sylmar, CA area. As a Paraprofessional you will play an important role in supporting incarcerated adolescents with their academic and personal growth. This is meaningful work for individuals who are passionate about helping youth heal, grow, and reach their full potential.

Pay Rate: $22 per hour

Location: Sylmar, CA 91324

Schedule: Part Time (School Operating Hours)

Requirements:

• Comfortable working in a juvenile court school setting with students ages 12-19 years of age who have behavior challenges
• High school diploma or equivalent required; some college or degree in education, psychology, or related field preferred.
• 6 months of experience working with youth in educational settings is preferred.
• Ability to remain calm, patient, and empathetic in a structured facility environment.
• Passionate about working with youth impacted by trauma and juvenile justice involvement
• Interested in pursuing a career in education, social work, counseling, juvenile justice, or related fields
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Reliable transportation.
