Job summary

Alameda Unified School District seeks an Educational Interpreter to support deaf and hard‑of‑hearing students within instructional settings. You will interpret and translate in classrooms and collaborate with teachers to facilitate access to curriculum.

Applicants must meet education requirements (48 semester units or an associate degree or higher) and hold RID/NAD certification with relevant internship/experience.

Licenses and Certifications

• Registry of Interpreters and/or National Association of the Deaf certification(s)

Education and Experience

• Completion of at least 48 semester units of study at an accredited institution of higher education; OR
• Possession of an Associate Degree or higher from an accredited institution of higher education; OR
• Demonstration of a rigorous standard of quality through a state or local assessment including knowledge of and the ability to assist in instruction in reading, writing, and mathematics; AND - A score of 4.0 or above on the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment, the Educational Sign Skills Evaluation-Interpreter and Receptive, or the National Association of the Deaf/American Consortium assessment as well as an internship in a special education class or experience interpreting/translating for deaf and hard of hearing children.
