Job summary

Job Summary

BASIC FUNCTION: Under the direction of the Principal, assist a certificated teacher in reinforcing instruction to individual or small groups of deaf and hard of hearing students in a classroom or other learning environment by performing interpreting, translating and tutorial services.

Promotional/Open * The promotional group as well as the general public may apply. The promotional side of the eligibility list shall take precedence when certifying eligibles.

CSEA Salary Range 130: Step A $31.08, Step B $32.65, Step C $34.30, Step D $36.04, Step E $37.86, Step F $39.78

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: REQUIREMENT: Certified with Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) or equivalent.

EVERY STUDENT SUCCEEDS ACT (ESSA) FEDERAL REQUIREMENT: Degree or completion of 48 semester units from an accredited college or university or district assessment/county certificate showing compliance with ESSA are required. PROOF IS REQUIRED.

EXAMINATION: The selection process will consist of competitive application screening for completeness, qualifications, and experience. Application evaluation (weighted 10%) and an oral interview exam (weighted 90%) will be conducted. A passing score must be achieved on each portion to be placed on the eligibility list. Final interviews for specific vacancies will be scheduled from the approved eligibility list.
