Casual Paramedic at Gundersen Tri-State Ambulance

Minimum of 24 hours per month.

Job Description:
Basic Function:

Paramedics provide emergency care for patients being moved from injury scenes to hospitals or transferred between hospitals. They should possess excellent patient service skills, work well under pressure, and make quick informed decisions about patient health. They are expected to be familiar with all onboard equipment, policies, and medical guidelines relevant to their role.

Major Responsibilities:
  • Follow all Tri-State Ambulance policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and conduct, demonstrating courteous and ethical behavior, and work cooperatively with EMS team members.
  • Possess skills and knowledge as a Nationally Registered Paramedic per US Department of Transportation standards.
  • Continuously improve and upgrade emergency medical skills and knowledge.
  • Provide competent patient care within Tri-State Ambulance guidelines.
  • Inspect, operate, and maintain emergency vehicles and equipment, holding a valid driver's license and complying with state laws.
  • Work collaboratively with medical and public safety communities.
  • Accurately document all required information.
  • Perform physical tasks required of a Paramedic.
  • Maintain cleanliness of all property, vehicles, and equipment.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by supervisors and management.
Age Specific Population Served:

Neonatal, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult, Geriatric.

OSHA Category:

Category II.

Position Qualifications:
Education/Learning Experience:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Completion of a qualified NREMT Paramedic program with licensure in Wisconsin and Minnesota.
Skills/Knowledge:
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, handle multiple tasks, and organize effectively.
  • Provide excellent customer service.
  • Knowledge of policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and patient charting programs.
Licenses/Certifications:
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Current certification as a Certified Emergency Vehicle Operator (CEVO) or equivalent.
  • Current Wisconsin, Minnesota, and NREMT NRP certifications.
  • Completion of ICS 100, 200, 700.
  • Current CPR (Health Care Provider), ACLS, and PALS certifications.
Physical Requirements:
  • Regularly required to stand, lift, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, twist, turn, climb, and balance.
  • Frequently lift/move up to 200 pounds and more than 200 pounds on stairs.
  • Specific vision abilities required.
