Supervisors use advanced paramedic training and leadership skills to oversee emergency medical technicians, while maintaining a safe working environment. This job requires extensive medical knowledge and emergency services training, as well as a paramedic certification.
The paramedic supervisor is an extension of the EMT-P and must initially and continually, utilize basic EMT‑P level skills on every call he or she is involved in. Therefore the "Emergency Medical Technician- Paramedic" job classification duties and responsibilities are adopted into the "Paramedic Supervisor" job classification and specific supervisor level duties will only be presented further.
