Job summary

Texas Health Arlington Memorial Hospital, part of Texas Health Resources, seeks a Paramedic (EMT-P) for its busy Emergency Department in Arlington, TX. This role supports high-volume patient care during day shifts, with weekend and holiday requirements, emphasizing safe patient care and documentation.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
  • 3 months paramedic experience or completion of a paramedic internship; 1 year paramedic EMS experience preferred.
  • EMT-P – Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic required or LP – Licensed Paramedic.
  • ACLS within 90 days of hire.
  • BCLS prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly.
  • PALS within 90 days of hire.
  • CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training (ED only) within 60 days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Administers IV fluids and meds under physician delegation including ACLS drugs with barcode verification.
  • Completes accurate documentation in the electronic health record.
  • Maintains airway, mobility, hygiene needs, and monitoring for patient safety.
  • Applies antiembolic stockings and compression devices as indicated.
  • Performs cervical collar management and basic radiologic access as needed.
  • Conducts ultrasound-guided peripheral IV access; assists with ports and blood draws.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the care team.

Work hours: Part Time, Day Shift (7a to 7p), 2 shifts, 24 hours per week. Weekend and holiday requirements. Complete benefits available.

  • Hospital-based paramedics function within a defined ED-specific scope of practice, performing advanced clinical skills under direct physician supervision in accordance with Texas Health Resources protocols
  • Robust Unit Based Council (UBC) and engaged leadership team
  • Fast-Paced, high-volume department averaging 100 - 200 patients/day
  • The professional paramedic exhibits understanding of basic human needs and demonstrates recognition and understanding of patient’s affiliations.
What You Will Do

Provides Safe Patient Care Under Physician Delegation:

  • Administers IV fluid without additives, saline flush, IV antibiotics, all IV medications excluding controlled and RSI medications. ACLS drugs (including drips) using barcode medication verification (BMV) during medication administrations. All IM and oral medications excluding controlled drugs. Plans the care of the patient
  • Completes accurate documentation in the electronic health record
  • Provides consistent attention to airway, intake, elimination, sleep, rest, mobility and hygiene needs
  • Applies antiembolic stockings and sequential compression devices
  • Cervical collar management
  • External defibrillation
  • Nasal cannula or oxygen mask application
  • Oral airway insertion and removal
  • Ultrasound-guided peripheral IV Access
  • Draw blood from ports
  • Other duties as assigned by the care team
